New Motivation
From this point forward, www.famefamefame.com will serve as an output for my recent and current projects. Hopefully it will motivate me to get out the hundreds of photos that I've promised friends and family.
Thanks for checking,

The End
This is the end of famefamefame, at least in the format and idea in which it was originally created. I've been too busy to get posts up in a reasonable amount of time, which is unfair to the people who have allowed me to photograph them. I continue to shoot and will find another project to fill this url, but this will take time.
In the meantime, check out some of my Transient project over at my portfolio site. Lots of images will come as this project moves forward, as well as other additions from a couple of other projects I have going on.

Matt Burns - Brookly Salsa Company
Matt was nice enough to take me into his home and let me photograph him in his comfortable loft near the Morgan stop. This was over a month ago. I'm an asshole for not getting this up until now.
Matt is the Co-Founder and Create Taste Operator of The Brooklyn Salsa Company. The Brooklyn Salsa company is a bad ass salsa company that sources all their ingredients locally and has a truly amazing approach to sustainability. Their salsa is produced in Kingston, New York, about 100 miles from the city, and all their ingredients are sourced from local farms that are within a reasonable driving distance from the production facility. Check out their site for more info on their production ethics, as well as some great links to the farms and staff that they use to make their amazing product.
This is some of the best salsa that I've ever tried. Make sure to check it out when you have a chance. They distribute through Whole Foods and Fairway, as well as the Deli and General Store on Flushing, with more locations to come.

This is the second person I screwed up writing down their name on this particular day of shooting. If anyone knows any details on either person I'd love to post with their actual name.

I screwed up writing down the name for this man and for the next person photographed. I mixed up the names and didn't want to post inaccurate information. Sorry.

things....
One...its not going to be easy getting into people's homes. There are still going to be a lot of "typical" famefamefame style street portraits. I'm working on shaking things up. It's been a while since I've done this and I've already fucked up a couple of names of people who were kind enough to allow me to photograph them. I need to shake off the cobwebs and get back in it.
Two...During the day that I shot most of the upcoming portraits, I did come across a great guy named Matt Burns who brought me into his home and let me take some shots that turned out great. These will be posted in a couple of days. I bought an audio recorder, some lower end Zoom recorder, but found that the quality was way worse than I expected it to be. I plan on returning it and getting a better recorder if I can find the receipt. Audio is something that I'm going to be working on and it most likely is going to be a rough, ugly process since I'm not an audio guy, so, please excuse the mess that may ensue. It may even take some time before I post any audio solely for quality control reasons.
Three...Thanks to everyone. If anyone wants/needs any pictures taken of themselves in Williamsburg/Bushwick, please let me know. I'm looking for deeper projects at this point. Like I said earlier, I'm looking for quality over quantity so any type of visualness would be awesome. Even if its just pictures of you drawing in your apartment on a winter day. If I can photograph you in a personal setting with some sort of story/personal feel, that is what I'm after at this point.
Lastly, I plan on shooting more in Bushwick now, seeing as how it is full on in the midst of the same change that Williamsburg has been going through for the last 10+ years. I'll have to change the banner on the site, just don't feel like doing it now. Soon enough.
Please excuse any changes, bumps, hiccups, and experimentation that may follow.

Back in the New York Groove
www.famefamefame.com is back. A few changes in purpose/style/concepts/posting that I have spent some time thinking about and in the end I think will make this project more effective.
For starters, I'm not going to post daily street portraits. It was the becoming more a numbers game for me than a quality project, so I'm going to have less posts. I'm still going to troll the streets, coming up with some of the same style shots, but ultimately I'm looking for something more. My new mission is to find my way into people's lives or homes as long as they'll have me. This could mean 5 minutes of walking around a grocery store, or 20 minutes in their home. I don't think this will be easy, so I don't expect lots of posts like this but they'll be posted when they do happen.
Thanks for keeping up with the site. I should have a couple of posts later today and this week.

On Hiatus
I'm leaving for the month of May on a month long, cross-country motorcycle trip. I wondered how I would work this out, and in the end I decided it best to just take a break from this project until I return.
I initially hoped to take enough phototgraphs to cover the month of May, but the logistics of planning this trip have taken over my life recently, so www.famefamefame.com will take its first break since the project began. I hope everyone out there will take the time to visit the site when it is back in the swing of things.
Thank you for the continued support,
Martin Diegelman
